In Kim's session at the barcamp earlier today on Socialising internal comms and change I posed the question about whether anyone would be interested in a full-day barcamp devoted to internal communications?
I've absolutely no firm details yet, just the mere seed of an idea that people tasked with promoting, championing or managing internal communications and change management have some unique subjects where a knowledge-sharing day such as today's govcamp might prove interesting.
I suggest we start by getting a rough idea to see if the interest is there for this, so if you're interested stick your name under this post. If you've got an idea of what sort of topics you'd like to explore, even better! Tell your internal comms managers and change managers, and if they're interested, better still!
We're in the fuzzy area between being public and private sector organisation , but are tackling similar issues to other government communications teams when driving the changing cultures within our organisation, so yes this is a great idea and we are interested.
Issues I'd find useful to explore include facilitating knowledge sharing , offline and online networking, internal newsletters and managing communications between offices in different locations.
I'll discuss it with out Comms manager, who just happens to be my boss. She's worked tirelessly on improving internal comms here so may be able to help out. Also supports what I've been pushing on the social media side - albeit externally focussed so far.
I'm very interested – at BarcampUkGovWeb09 I was a bit put off by how externally-focussed everything was, so I didn't come to last week's, and now I wish I had.
